Hakeem Olajuwon in the Basketball Hall of Fame

Monday ', 7th April 2008, came to me with my son full of enthusiasm and radiant with joy. He announced with great pride that Hakeem Olajuwon had been accepted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The 12-year-old child who is literally obsessed with basketball and spends time as possible outside the school in both games observe, or would know more about this sport was so with this increasedMessages and with good reason. Demoralized in this country in these times when Islam and Muslims has been misunderstood and misrepresented, and in many cases, is a moment of pride for all Muslims and especially Muslims in the United States. Hakeem Olajuwon was not only a great basketball player, was much more. He embodied and lived the Islamic faith and open for all to see. During Ramadan he would fast even when it's a game, and he would play in basketballGame, during fasting.

Muslim States

Hakeem Olajuwon, was not always so pious, early in his career, he was aggressive and would often get into arguments with officials and other players. But in 1991 he changed as he became more spiritual and turned his attention to his religion.

On March 9, 1991, changed its name in Arabic and said the correct spelling: "I'm not changing the spelling of my name, I corrected"] He recalled:. "I studied the Koran every day at home, at.Mosque ... I'd read on the plane, before games and after them. I was taking faith and learning new meanings each time I turned the page. I did not dabble in the faith, gave me on it. "Olajuwon still considered one of the league's elite centers despite his strict observance of Ramadan (ie surrender to eat and drink during daylight hours for about a month), acknowledged that occurred in virtually every season of his career . Olajuwon as has sometimes been to play better established, during the month, and in 1995 for the NBA player of the month of February, even though Ramadan began on February 1 this year. He received the award for their sportsmanship and his charitable pursuits. In 1994, after receiving the MVP award, spoke to the (Islamic Society of North America) ISNA Convention. He is a hero to many young Muslims in the United States. (Http: / / en.wikipedia.org / wiki / Hakeem_Olajuwon)

Among his titles are NBA records: 2 times NBAChampion (1994, '95)
